A true labor of love, this overview of the origins, evolution, and applications of modern letterforms was initially created by mediumbold's founding partners in 1996 and updated and redesigned in 2001. Over the years, The Evolution of Type has become a widely-used resource for teachers and students of typographic design around the world.
The Evolution of Type was chosen as a top-ranked site by HOW Magazine. HOW lauded the site for its value as a teaching tool and as a great resource for designers and typographers. The site has received an Adobe FlashPoint award, a High5 award, and was published in "Cutting Edge Web Design" in 1998.
